The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) is encouraging charities to take simple steps to help protect themselves from cyber attacks.
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, and the Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre has compiled a list of the most important things to do to be cyber safe.
These include:
- Installing software updates to keep your devices secure
- Using a unique and strong passphrase on every account
- Setting up multi-factor authentication.
The theme for this year’s Cyber Security Awareness Month is ‘Building our cyber safe culture’.
Throughout October, the centre will share information on how to stay safe online across a range of topics such as managing a data breach, cyber security and third parties, supply chain security and more.
