The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) has extended its transitional reporting arrangements for some charities.

The arrangements will apply for the 2025 financial year and remain in place until the 2029 financial year, unless the ACNC advises otherwise.

Under the transitional reporting arrangements, the ACNC can accept reporting to another Australian government agency as meeting relevant ACNC requirements.

Reducing instances of reporting duplication is a key priority for the ACNC and aligns with our broader goal to minimise red tape for Australia’s charity sector. Through implementing these measures, we aim to ease the regulatory burden on organisations that report to other government regulators.

The extended transitional reporting arrangements apply to:

  • charities registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations
  • non-government schools reporting to the federal Department of Education
  • co-operatives in each state and territory.

“Our work with other government agencies plays a major role in reducing red tape for charities,” Ms Woodward said.

“We know charities are often operating with limited resources, and duplicated reporting requirements take them away from focusing on delivering their charitable work.”

The extension of these arrangements complements other streamlined arrangements for charities that are ancillary funds, and incorporated associations and fundraisers in all states and territories.
